When down equals up

Twitch announced it would be lowering subscription prices in most countries outside the US, starting with Mexico and Turkey on the 20th of this month. Current cost was a universal one but prohibitive in many countries. As you can see in the data below, daily revenue has increased for both countries since the change. It's likely the move coincided with an advertising campaign as well, and for some reason, users in Mexico decided to start the party early. ARPDAU in both countries has also been slowly increasing. In Turkey, Twitch's revenue has been hitting all-time highs every day for the past six days. In Mexico, it came just $300 shy of reaching an all-time high on the 26th. We'll have to wait and see if the increased revenue holds up but for right now things are headed in the right direction.

You might be waiting less time for your Lyft soon

Early last month we reported to the Financial Times that Uber Driver and Lyft Driver DAUs had been down sharply year-over-year in the US. Now, we're showing a rise in not only these apps, but almost all 'gig worker' apps. We looked at Uber Driver, Lyft Driver, Postmates Fleet, Door Dash Driver, Instacart Shopper, Amazon Flex, Grubhub for Drivers and Shipt Shopper. The only one on a down-trend is Postmates Fleet (not included in the image below). This may be due to Uber's recent acquisition of the company and a de-emphasis of the platform. How does this trend stack up against the trend for job search apps like Indeed, Monster.com and ZipRecruiter? Find out for yourself by creating a free report here.

Read/Write platform apps are the fastest grossing segment of the creator economy

What are Read/Write platforms? They are apps that enable creators to write novels or comic books where fans can follow and read their work. To get paid, creators can choose to lock their content. Fans will then need to spend their in-app currency (coin system) in order to unlock it.

HBO Max outpaces top competitors Disney+ and Netflix for mobile app downloads in its first year

In its first year live, the HBO Max mobile app has been installed 43M times, which is 664% more than it had been installed (5.5M) the year before when it was the HBO NOW app. The 43 million installs is more than any other major streaming subscription video app had in the US during this same time period.
