China's Pinduoduo has seemingly successfully launched its ecommerce offering Temu, in the United States. While its active users are still well below those of Amazon and SHEIN, its rate of new installs has far exceeded those of top retail players in the country. Similar to SHEIN's early days, Temu is mostly focused on fast fashion for now. The combination of low prices and free shipping has been creating return customers if you pay attention to the user reviews. Organically on Google Play, Temu is a top 5 result for "shopping" and is paying for keywords such as "wish" and "shopee." While it running ads on Facebook and other app publishers, its number of creatives and impressions generated fall far below that of SHEIN for now.
We can get a feel for retention of Snapchat+ subscriptions by checking the IAP revenue of Snapchat on the 11th of every month. This seems to be when most people pay their monthly fee for the product. The largest drop off was right away on the second month (as expected) but has grown more steady since. Revenue actually grew just slightly from September to October, before falling again in November. The funny thing about November's timing is the 11th is when Twitter received its most ever IAP revenue for a single day with the launch of its new (but already defunct) Twitter Blue subscription. Maybe there were some dollars swapped there as people yearned for a blue check mark.
