Subparstack

Substack is a creator platform, mostly catering to writers where readers directly pay writers they subscribe to. You've probably seen prominent writers like Casey Newton (formerly of The Verge) use Substack to go independent. Substack, rightfully so, wants its mobile app to be the main area of engagement for readers. Outside of a small launch burst, downloads quickly fell behind that of competitor, Medium. It could be that there is not enough content or talent on Substack just yet to garner more support. Data shown above is iOS only as Substack is not yet available on Google Play. The Android version is in the works.

LinkedIn recovers

"The Great Reshuffle" has been good for LinkedIn's pandemic bounce-back, driving record engagement which has translated into dollars spent by users. The professional network has taken a note from the creator economy by recruiting premium publishers as a way to drive subscription revenue. This seems to be working but there is more room to run as the company recently announced analytics and video features for its creators. LinkedIn IAP revenue is now just shy of where it was in 2019.
