App Acquisition
EastPark Group has acquired MPLA, a mobile parking company out of the Czech Republic. The app has been installed 527k times since launch in February 2020.
At one point, social app BeReal had spent 30 consecutive days at #1 on the iOS App Store in the US. From about July through October it was being downloaded more than Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter in the United States. It even had a few days above Instagram. BeReal's peak DAU was in October though and it's been falling ever since. To attract new users it is relying on word of mouth and other grassroots efforts. It is not paying for store search keywords or advertising as far as Apptopia can tell.
I actually think BeReal got a few things right; it filled a hole in social networking needs, created daily urgency and probably got enough users to hit escape velocity had it not taken too long to upgrade the product. There is only a finite window for these things before people stop paying attention (look at Clubhouse). Its issue is that the core of its usage relies on a daily 'must do' task. This is best served as a feature (like Snapchat's streaks) and not the core concept. Why? Because doing something (specifically the same thing) every day is hard, it's tiring, and let's be real, it gets old.
Tesla's mobile has had back to back months of +100% year-over-year growth, with January's 692k installs being the most ever in a month for the company. Even with Tesla CEO Elon Musk receiving near-constant negative press, the company's stock is more popular than ever among retail traders. The spike is January happened in both of Tesla's largest markets, the United States and China. The mobile app is used by car owners to operate different facets of the vehicle, but also by Powerwall owners to manage their solar energy systems.
