While I sit here being far too proud of myself for that one, you might be looking at the chart below and thinking one of these things is not like the other. But in April 2020, Planet Fitness started offering in-app video workouts as they realized the effects of the pandemic. Because of this, it was the only top gym app in the US to grow downloads in 2020 compared to 2019 (+64%). The Planet Fitness app is also still used to manage customers' memberships and check them into their local gyms, so as things start to open up again, the app continues to rise. On the flip side, water might be finding its level for Peloton and iFit's new normal.
People continue to embrace ecommerce in Brazil
About a year ago, we reported ecommerce apps, and likely number of purchases, in LATAM had hit new heights. Brazil was responsible for a significant part of that growth. Here we see continued signs of digital spending increase in the country as almost all of its top digital wallets are growing at more than 100% YoY. Even though Mercado Libre is the ecommerce heavyweight in the country, its payment wallet growth is lagging behind competitors. Still, it is the #2 wallet in the country by total number of current DAUs.
