School firewalls block access to certain websites and apps. They're meant to keep students focused and to keep teachers from unknowingly going viral in a TikTok video. However, this Monday we saw students install VPN apps to get around the firewalls. This is what happens when you refuse to miss your BeReal moment.

Walmart recently announced its subscription members will be able to access Paramount+ for free starting in September. Downloads did follow but not as much as I would have expected. Maybe Paramount+ is not compelling enough, its customers were not communicated with well enough, or there are not a ton of Walmart+ members. It is possible that we start to see installs pick up as the month carries on but right now previous content launches have done more for the app's user acquisition efforts.

Amazon sets new record for monthly downloads in August, thanks to back to school shoppers
 
Amazon just had its best month of U.S. downloads on record, bringing in 5.5 million downloads this August. The 65% year-over-year (YoY) growth for the month is also its highest YoY growth rate for any given month in the last seven years.
 
 
 
For Beauty, D2C Apparel apps, mobile engagement is already past holiday shopping highs
 

Beauty Retail and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) Apparel apps are driving more DAUs in the last 30 days than during the peak of 2021 holiday shopping. Daily users engaging with D2C Apparel apps have increased 5% from December 2021, and 2% for Beauty Retail apps.
