App Acquisition
Kpler has acquired MarineTraffic, a provider of ship tracking and maritime intelligence. The app has been installed 5.75 million times since launch in 2012.
The people have spoken. Delivery and service fees (in addition to up-charged individual items) are not worth it in this economy. User sessions of food delivery apps like Uber Eats and Grubhub are down 12%, year-over-year. Meanwhile, user sessions of grocery apps like Kroger and Publix are up 36% over the same time period. Grocery store apps are hit or miss with their UI (some of the last companies to truly invest in mobile), but they are offering significant discounts on groceries that have increased in price over the past year. Even if they weren't, shopping for your food to make your meals is almost always going to cost less than ordering in. For those of you wondering, Instacart's data is relatively flat.

The top 10 quick-service restaurant apps in the U.S. were downloaded 10.1 million times in January, 12.9 percent fewer than the month prior. Year-over-year in the month of January, downloads of the top 36 quick-service restaurant apps are up 22.8 percent.
