App Acquisition
Discord has acquired Gas, an anonymous chat app focused on positivity. The app has been installed 8.5 million times and has generated $2.5 million via IAP revenue since launch in August 2022.
Homework and study help app, Chegg hit an all-time high for in-app purchase revenue this past quarter with close to $3 million. Chegg subscriptions cost $15.99/month and provide live homework help, flashcards and more. While I can't know for certain, I believe two things led to this increase. First, Chegg launched the app in Spanish in late September, opening up an entirely new market for itself. Second, the publisher launched a partnership with meditation app, Calm in November. The partnership provides Chegg subscribers with free access to Calm's premium service.

It was the first mega dating app and maybe it's becoming played out or not specific enough for younger generations. Daily active users of the top 20 "specialized dating" apps have grown 28% since 2020.
