MUSINGS
Carfax steps it into high gear
Carfax has come from behind and capitalized on the public's surging interest in car ownership. From January 2020 through January 2022, the Carfax app has grown DAUs by 284%. Carvana is the next closest player when it comes to growth, at 117%. Early last year (February), Carfax added the ability to control the app via your voice, which none of its competitors currently have today. TrueCar, Edmunds and Vroom were analyzed for this but not included on the chart below. They would have fallen below the absolute numbers of all apps included on this chart.
Shoppers just needed a little help
The Saks 5th Avenue mobile app recently hit an all-time high for daily downloads on February 8th with 8,260. This comes on the back of Saks Stylist, a personal stylist and shopping service complimentary to all customers. It was created in partnership with Wishi. Wishi's "style experts" curate the Saks to create shoppable looks based on clients’ needs and preferences. It makes sense that luxury shoppers would want personal assistants, and it adds a little bit of luxury to the digital experience.
